An Environment of Trust, Respect and Dialogue

First and foremost - responsibility for a safe work-environment lies with you and your colleagues, but....

The good news is that I can help you to achieve that safe work-environment goal. Through my experience in dealing with Health & Safety management systems as well as leadership development, I have the insights to to help you to create and maintain a safe workplace. I do this by focusing on the two main elements that I think are essential: systems and people.

  • Systems and processes need to be in place to ensure all hazards are identified, and controls are in place to mitigate those hazards (see diagram)

  • The workplace culture needs to be such that it that fosters a safe working environment, for example through:

    • Having a workplace community spirit that encourages everybody to look after each other

    • Having an engrained belief that injuries can be avoided

    • Taking responsibility for own and other's safety

    • A trusted environment where it is OK to speak up

And many more elements that touch on leadership, responsibilities, trust and safety awareness.
